FAQ
Have a question? Check these answers.
Go to https://www.pavoterservices.pa.gov/Pages/VoterRegistrationApplication.aspx. You can fill the form out online, or print and mail the form. You can also stop by our election office at 212 E Locust St.
Go to https://www.votespa.com/Voting-in-PA/Pages/Mail-and-Absentee-Ballot.aspx and fill out the appropriate information. We recommend using the MAIL-IN option rather than absentee (both are handled the same by us). You can also stop by the election office and apply in person.
It means that every year, you will receive an APPLICATION to be sent a mail-in ballot for both the primary and general elections. You WILL NOT AUTOMATICALLY receive a ballot unless you apply annually – this just ensures you get an application from our election office.
All sorts of organizations are sending out those applications – political parties, the state, non-partisan groups. We have no control over that. What we can tell you, however, is – you will only get ONE ballot, even if you apply multiple times (PLEASE do not apply twice, though – it takes time for our staff to process apps, even duplicates. Please respect our time).
With well over 8,000 ballots to issue, it takes time. We have a staff working daily on getting them out; please be patient. If you applied before 10/5 and you do not have your ballot by 10/20, please email [email protected]. If you applied after 10/5, it may be as late as 10/27 when you get your ballot in the mail. Until then, please DO NOT call or email, as it will only slow the process down.
YES! You can bring your ballot to our election office 8:30-4 Monday-Friday, or until 8PM on Election Night. Please keep in mind – unless you are disabled and unable to bring your own ballot, you MUST bring it yourself. Not even your spouse can bring it for you (or vice-versa).
If you are a registered voter, YES! We’ve had many people already cast their ballots. We have privacy ‘booths’ set up outside our office; you can apply, receive a ballot, and cast your ballot all in one stop.
First of all, we strongly discourage this; it slows up the process for your fellow voters at the polls. But if you decide not to return your mail-in/absentee ballot: please bring the ballot, the secrecy envelope, and the return envelope to your polling place UNSEALED and UNSIGNED. The poll workers will take your material, void it, and issue you a new ballot.
Please email [email protected] and we will get back to you within one business day. We ask that you email rather than call; calls slow our entire process down.
Yes, in some cases the ballot may need one additional fold. That is not a problem, fold as needed and return it.
